tanning mom gone too far

Recently there has been a story on the news about a mother who is obsessed with getting tanned. She is unusually tan, that she does not even look human. To top it all off she has gotten her daughter into it and he is only 5 years old. People call her crazy and people and insane, and if you think about it she really is. Too much tan can cause cancer and she may not have it now but maybe later down the line she might. Also tanning is not healthy for her daughter because all the radiation for the tanning bed can cause her daughter not to have kids later down in life. This lady is really crazy if she think that it's cute or something but it's really not. Personally I think that the family of the child should take her away from her mother and the mom should go get help. it is not healthy at all, and is kind of freaky to be that bronz. the little girl went to school so tanned that her teacher asked her what was wrong and she told her teacher that her mom took her to a tanning salon. Right away her teacher went to the house and saw that the mom was outrageously another color, she didn't even look human. right now the mother i on trial because to me this is abuse of a child, and it should be stopped.

this i believe

The this i believe i chose was if i don't do it, who will. what I liked about it is in the begining how the lady told how her mother worked for the church, and how her family was. She also talked about how her mom would volunteer. she talked about how she raised money for fundraising, and she figured that if she doesn't do something who will. It really makes since because if you really think about it there are alot of lazy people in this world who expect people to do everything for them, but in reality it doesn't work like that, someone has to do something whether its for free, or not. it got me thinking that when im thinking about doing something good, just to go ahead and do it, because if i don't then it won't get done. I think this authors logic is perfectly correct. From the begining until the end i agreed because it was just great. If everybody in this world had the same idea then a whole lot of stuff would get done and this world would be a better place. This topic is something that everybody needs to catch onto and stop waiting for everyone else to get the job done, we need to come together and not wait for others to accomplish something.

Broadcasting a World of whiteness

The article called Broadcasting a World of whiteness talks about a new tv show on HBO, called "girls". This Show has caused a little controversy because it has gotten people wondering why a new show called "girls" doesn't include all different races of girls, instead of one race of girls. This show should apply to all girls, not just white girls, or black girls, or Hispanic girls, but all girls. I agree with how everyone feels about this show. I believe somewhere in this show there should be a girl of another race.  think that there are not many shows on network television that are diverse because the producers figure that since there are more white people in the world then there should be just white people as main characters in shows. I also think sometimes that when someone is making a show they just don't look for only white actors or actresses, they look for whoever fits the spot best, and if they are all white then that is just a coincidence. I agree with the author of this article when he says that television is not diverse enough, because when you flip the channel all you really see are white people, and I know that there should be more mixed people or people of another race on television. Personally I think that producers should choose different races, but I also think that they don't pay attention to that because once again whoever plays the role the best, get the roles to be on television. I never watched something that I though was racist because when I watch television I don't look for that type of stuff, I watch a show to be entertained.

New Fashion Wrinkle: Stylishy Hididng Gun

This article talks about a new fashion line that combines fashion along with carrying a weapon such as a gun. Its says that even though you carry a weapon, does not mean that you have to look like it or even look a mess. You now can be fashionable and also be packed at the same time. I think that this is outrageously dumb and most clothing companies will not pick this as a fashion to be sold in their stores. I think this is dumb because i can only imagine how heavy the clothes must be be, like for example if you put a holster in your sleeve i can imagine that to be pretty heavy. But i guess somebody will like the idea of this. I think that if everybody in the world carried a gun this would be one crazy world. It would make this world a danger for everybody because there are a lot of crazy people out in this world and if they had a gun it would only cause more trouble. I also think that other companies would not adapt to this clothing line because i mean it's only so much you can do to hide a holster, it also is not meant to be sold in every store because different stores have certain ways that customers look at the store, and if they put gun wearing clothes in it, it might discourage someone from shopping at a specific store. Overall I think this clothing line is foolish.

Afghan Girls, Scarred by acid, Defy Terror, Embracing school

In the article Afghan girls, scarred by acid, defy terror, embracing schools by Dexter Filkins, it talks about people not women to be educated. The story about the girl named Shamsia getting acid poured on her while she was on her way to school is really crazy. The  fact that people don't want girls to be educated is outrageous. But her parents don't let anything stop her from getting her education, they even said that she has to go to school even if she risk getting killed. That statement would have me so scared, that I would never go to school. Also the fact that these people were targeting school, ready to hurt little girls, teachers or even just women period because they are trying to better themselves and get education is crazy. I thought stuff like this didn't exit anymore, but i guess it does. I mean people should be glad that kids and women are dedicating their selves to go and get a education to better them selves. The fact that in a class room that was once full soon became empty is sad. The parents of these girls were scare to send their daughters to school scared of the fact that they could be killed or hurt bad. The government promised police, and a foot bridge across a nearby road, and a bus but they should not have to do all that just to ensure safety on these girls. The main thing should be catching whoever is in charge of this.

man charged after dumping a suitcase full of puppies in alley

this man had a suit case with six puppies in side, and their mother. This suit case was the type of suitcase that you take to the airport, because it was found with tags on it. obviously he forgot to take the tags off. this is really sad because even though he did not physically hurt them he abandoned them and that is just as bad. Some people think that it doesn't matter because they can't talk or that no one will even know or care, but whoever thinks that are totally wrong. people do care and people will find out. the craziest thing about this story is that when the cops arrested him he said that someone had stole his suitcase with the puppies in it, and sat it in the alley. that really didn't make any sense because why would they be in the suit case, and why would someone want to steal a suitcase and six cute little puppies only to put it in the alley for them to die. that story is such a lie. and i'm guessing that the cops didnt believe him either because they charged him with animal abuse, and anybody in there right mind wouldn't believe him either. overall this article was something that touched me because i felt the need that i had to talk about it. stuff like this goes on every single day in america and the cops are not always the first people to find out about it. These puppies were lucky.

the murder of trayvon

on the news there recently was the death of a 17 year old teenager. His name is Trayvon and he was murdered on his way home. According to the man who did it, he looked suspicious. But according to others he was just black , wearing a hoodie over his head carrying a bottle of iced tea and a pack of skittles. Personally I think that it was a form of racism. I think that it was a form of racism because he was not making any threat towards any body, he was not even carrying a weapon. He was just on the phone talking to his girlfriend. He was shot down and killed for nothing. This topic is something that has been trending and had people talking on twitter, facebook, youtube and other networks. The thing that has every one upset is the fact that the guy who did it it not arrested, and he is still walking on the streets free, while an innocent boy is dead. People are protesting and creating a movement. Over the weekend people were walking around Philadelphia with signs and wearing hoodies to show that they will not rest until this murderer is behind bars. People are especially worried because there are alot of boys that walk down the streets wearing hoodies and this situation is just saying that they could be next and there is a possibility that this man will have the same excuse and get away free. This should not be left quiet.

most births occur outside marriage

In for "women under 30, most births occur outside of marriages" Jason Deplare illustrates how most women under the age 30, in today's world are having kids before they are married. This article includes fact and percentages, rates and statistics of this topic. One fact that was stated in this article was that kids who tend to the be born before wedlock tend to have behavior problems. I do not believe that because my parents were not married and they had me and i do not have behavior problems. This is not really a 100 percent fact because I don't have anger problems. I feel that this article was more of a survey rather than scientific facts. I feel that most women want to be settled down and married with kids, but sometimes everything doesn't work out like that. So it takes its own path. This article tells me that women under thirty are being stereotyped and that many women are being falsely judged because they are not what everyone expects them to be. But little do they know that everything does not always work out the way as planned. This article also talks about how women in college are more likely to have kids when they are married. Personally i think they are less likely because while they are in college they are living the life of the party, bu that only apply for a small amount of people. Overall this article was a very interesting one, and it stirred up some different reactions, and feelings.

Stop kony

This is a story that is a major topic now. Since yesterday there has been millions of people talking about how serious this topic is, and why it is so serious. people also talk about what we can do to stop this and how we can spread the word and get the government to pay attention and listen to ways to capture kony. Some people are really interested in this cause because what he is doing is inhumane and horrible. Its a shame that those kids have to go through that and nobody can do anything about it yet. Personally I think this is a bad, but I think that even if we do capture him that somewhere in Uganda there is someone just as bad as him that will continue this vicious act of inhumanity. Just because he's captured does not mean all bad will end in Africa. It will just be that what we think and how we feel actually matters. it will be the beginning of everyone coming together to end something that's happening bad in the world, also just because its not happening to us does not mean that we should not have a say so in this matter. The fact that everyone is talking about tells me that everyone has some type of heart and that people are not selfish and only worried about themselves.I believe that if everyone shares this topic that everyone around the world will have a different opinion on this specific topic.

Facebook is using you

the article " Facebook is using you" by Lori Andrew talks about how the internet and social networking or even emails has ways to track down your personal information and send you ads about something you recently searched. It also talks about how jobs can search your history online, and what you've done can deter you from getting the job you want. If you think about it, it's kind of crazy how you think you have privacy on websites like Facebook, but you really don't. For example if on your facebook profile there is something about you liking a certain t.v show or a number of T.v shows then there will be ads about watching shows like that or ads for that show. I never knew that Facebook, Twitter, Emails, and websites like that were a franchising website. It's kind of weird that something that you type in your browser, can be sent to these companies who advertise, and without you even knowing it, they give you ads trying to persuade you to but these things. Most people don't click on them but obviously some people are since they are making so much money and the people that created facebook, twitter, and emails are rich.some thing amazed me in this article is the statement that was made about what you do in your life can be easily used against you, whether you can get a job, get credit, or even get insurance, can be based on your online profile, and they will never inform you why you were denied something.

Whitney Houston death

Whitney Houston death was something that stunned alot of her fans. It also shocked alot of people. When it cam out that she had passes away it left the world feeling incomplete. She was a icon, she was someone who alot of people looked up to. Everybody knew about the mistakes she made in her life but also everybody also knew about how she changed and how committed she was. The most shocking thing about the whole situation was that she died the day before the a major event, that she was supposed to attend. Then on top of that she was in the making of a new movie. Her funeral was something that everybody took time to sit down and watch. It was on cnn, so i know all the people who didn't have cable or internet to access it online, were upset because they did not get a chance to see her funeral. It was a very nice service, alot of famous people who loved her spoke on her behalf. They talked about how much they were going to miss hearing her voice and seeing how she always was smiling. Her funeral was full of people singing, people talking about her, speeches, and prayer. One thing I found really nice about her service was the fact that at the end they took her casket out while playing her song "I will always love you", i also liked the fact that her security guards carried her out on their shoulders, and I know that it could not have been the lightest thing to carry.

im a criminal so are you

The main idea  of this article says "in this country, we force millions of people who are largely black and brown into a permanent second class status, simply because they once committed a crime." i agree with this statement because that's what us Americans do, we think that if someone has been convicted of a crime that, that person should be watched all the time or treated a little different. Something that i don't agree with is that every criminal should have the same rights as us. It should be depending on the crime that was committed. Say if someone got arrested for smoking pot at the age of 17 and got arrested or caught, then when they get out and they are around the age 30 or 40 they still are getting the consequences of making that one mistake when they were a teenager, I don't agree with that. I think if the crime is something serious like someone being a rapist they still should have an opportunity to get a job but maybe not a job around kids, but they still have the right to be alive, and have a life because they did and served their time in prison for the crime they committed. I believe that the people in this society do look down to criminals just because they have a record, but people need to keep it real because no matter if they know it or not, everyone one time in their life has committed a crime, no matter how big or small it is, but that doesn't give anyone the right to look at someone like they as less of a person, just think that crime you committed is still a crime, you just didn't get caught for it.

Photoshopped or Not? A Tool to Tell

Dr. Farid and Eric Kee, a Ph.D. student in computer science at Darmouth, are proposing a software tool for measuring how much fashion and beauty photos have been altered, a -to-5 scale that distinguishes the very lottle from fantastic. says the article called Photoshopped or not? A tool to tell. In this article it talks about places and companies taking pictures of imperfect people and fixing their blemishes and their weight. I think that if you take a picture it should not be photo shopped and also if you take a picture it should just be natural. Maybe you could just change the color, or the tone, don't change the texture of someone's face or if they have a pimple keep it there, because that's just who they are, and once you remove that, its not that person exactly. Its false advertising someone features, and once you see that person in person you will be shocked because they are not as perfect as they are in the picture. In real life when you become a model when you take pictures, the editor or the photographer will edit something about you, or something on you. Or even when you are a singer when you take pictures and choose the picture on your album it is not the same picture when you first took it. I think that editing my picture without my consent would make me mad, I would feel as though there was something wrong with me and it would be giving audiences false advertisements. I also think that when people get their pictures photo shopped deep down inside it makes them kind of mad too.

In China, Human Costs Are Built Into an ipad

"In China, Human Costs Are Built into an ipad" the apple company pays workers to  polish thousands of ipad cases a day. They make low incomes. They work very hard in China to make the money off of the product everyone is buying in America, but they are barely making a living from the paychecks they receive. They make about $22 a day, and in chin or even everywhere $22  is not enough to live anywhere or do anything. In this article they give little anecdotes bout the lives of some of the workers. They describe how one man makes a small income and lives in a small bedroom big enough for just one bed and  desk wit a computer on it, that he play's his favorite game on. It talks about the dangers that most of the workers at this company can go through and the course of a day. This article makes me thankful that we get paid more here in America and have more safety rules to follow to prevent us from dangerous jobs. I feel bad for the people that work at these types of company's because they work very hard and really don't make a lot of money. I can infer that from this article workers really don't have enough education to work at a lot of different places, so they just settle for what they can get at this point. What i would like to know is why the apple company makes so much money but pays their workers so little.I would also like to know why apple is being so cheap.

cracking teenagers online codes

I agree with  Dr. Boyd's article because it makes sense because some teenagers do need to experience some things in life in order to have experience. One thing I don't agree is that the city is safer than it was before. Personally I think that the city is full of crazy and corrup people and that kids should not be around people like that. Also I think that teenagers do need some type of space, because believe it or not they are going to find a way to do anything that they want to. It takes experience to have knowledge. Dr. Boyd's article talks about how you can still find out what your teen is doing but also don't be too hard on them because it will juts pressure them to do it more. I agree with this because i am a teen , and if my mom kept pressuring me about not doing something it would kind of make me want to do it more. So i understand where she's coming from. I also think that alot of teenager can relate to where she's coming from.

teaching kids how to break up

the  main idea of the article called "teaching kid how to break up nicely by Benoit Denizet" is nice and mean ways of breaking up with someone. For example facebook is not a good way to break up with somebody, but it is easier than telling that person to their face. Racing into a new facebook official relationship is understandable but still not healthy because when you break up with someone, if you rush into another one to make your ex mad it makes you look bad. I think Facebook  relationships never work out because there are a lot of people  who are nosy, and are waiting to cause trouble. Nosy people in other people's relationships are the main reason why couples break up. Like if i was in a relationship, i would not let facebook or the people know what's going on in my relationship, because that would just cause problems. This topic is a very nice topic for educating teenagers, the do's and and do not's  of being in a relationship. In real life i have not experienced breaking up with somebody on facebook but i know somebody who has. when my older cousin got into a relationship she let the whole know. she constantly made statuses when they were having problems. Eventually they broke up due to nosy people. some people only have face book's just to be in other peoples Business . I won't experience a facebook heart break because this article made me realize that your business, should stay you business, and the only people who should know are the people you want to know.

hurricane irene hits east coast

A while back in 2011 there was a hurricane called hurricane Irene. The news showed news broadcast of what to expect and how severe the hurricane may or may not be. The news had people all in the east coast scared, and evacuating. people who were at the beach vacationing were evacuated, but some people who were stubborn would not leave. Some believed that if it was there time to go then they would leave in a place that they call home. Personally me, you would not have to tell me twice. But in the grocery stores lines were down the street and around the corner full of worried people buying non-perishable food items in case the hurricane knocked out the power. People also bought wood and supplies to cover up there windows. since the news said we shouldn't get it that bad me and my mom didn't board up our windows we just bought lot of groceries. every day up till the storm the news kept talking about hurricane Irene and how to prepare for it, but overall all we got was hard rain. Other places like upper Darby, and  Delaware, got it bad, they had signs and cars floating down the street.

hero to murderer

On the news there was a story talking about a soldier who comes back from iraq, and runs over a 65 year old women and kills her. his family says that while in iraq he suffered a head injury and it caused him to have problems. They said that it caused him to have flash backs  from when he was in the war, and every time he has those flash backs he wants to kill people. It's like a rage.
